One person was shot dead this evening by unidentified assailants near Gangaganj in the Shivratanganj area of Amethi district, police said.
The deceased, identified as one Dr Rajesh Singh (45), was a resident of Katorwa village in the Mohanganj police station area.
When contacted, Tiloi Circle Officer ML Chowdhary said that the assailants fled after killing Singh, who was returning home after closing his shop.
Further inquiries are on in the case, Chowdhary said.
