Months ahead of state assembly elections, the Vasundhara Raje-led Rajasthan government has promoted 6,000 police constables.

Speaking at an event here Wednesday, Raje said, "Rajasthan is a peaceful state and its police have made efforts to maintain law and order. Understanding the need of the hour, the state government for the first time has decided to promote 6,000 constables to head constables."

She said the crime graph had dipped in the last few years in the state and now there was a need for the police force to the raise the level of trust the public have in them.

The chief minister said the Rajasthan police academy has provided training to 79,000 policemen and the work done by the force on the field was commendable.

She said Rajasthan was part of the BIMARU states in 2013-14 when BJP came to power, but with continuous efforts in the fields of information and technology, skill development, education and health the state is no more a BIMARU state, she claimed.

Rajasthan will soon be a leading state in the country and effective policy making will play a more significant role here, Raje said.
