6 farmers die in UP

Six farmers died

apparently due to shock in different districts of the state which have witnessed crop loss due to unseasonal rains and hailstorm.

In Meerut district, four farmers died in Panchi, Nangli, Daryapur and Mawana Khurd villages.

According to family members of 70-year-old Begraj Pal, a resident of Kharkhoda's Panchi village, he was upset over crop damage due to incessant rainfall. Yesterday, his health deteriorated and he died before being taken to a hospital.

In another incident, Mehak Singh (48) of Nangli village in Daurala area died due to heart attack.

He had sown wheat on around four acres of land on eight acres of his plot. However, rain and hailstorm destroyed the crop due to which he had the heart attack, his family members claimed.
 

Dharmpal Tyagi (70) of Mawana Khurd area also suffered a heart attack after being stressed over crop damage and debts, his family claimed.

Also upset over crop loss, Praveen of Daryapur village in Hastinapur area was found lying unconscious at his farm yesterday and died before being taken to a hospital.

Spokesperson of the district administration said these incidents are being investigated and families of the deceased will be compensated if the deaths were due to crop damage.

In Barabanki district, two farmers died with their families claiming they were devastated by the crop losses incurred. However, police is yet to ascertain the reasons.

50-year-old Nanku, a resident of Chiraiya Majre Saurangabad village in Fetehpur area and 40-year-old Shankar of Gaura Sailak village died yesterday due to shock, their family members said.

Sub-Divisional Magistrate Fatehpur Virendra Pandey said that the information about Nanku's death was given to the administration after his cremation due to which post-mortem could not be conducted.

Shankar's family has claimed that he died due to shock after facing loss. However, it has come to the notice that he died due to illness, Pandey said.

The administration will help the families of the deceased as per the provisions and will also try to provide relief to them from the Chief Minister's relief fund.
