6 policemen get three year jail term for custodial death

Sessions court held inspector Ujagar Singh, ASI Gadsa Ram and four constables guilty for the death of Om Prakash Tantia in police custody on March 23, 2011.

Tantia was picked up by the police for some petty offence and later died in Ellenabad police station of the district.

The police had refused to register case in the matter and the family members of the deceased had to approach High Court.

After High Court's intervention, a case against them was registered, said prosecution.
