Seven alleged members of a Gujarat-based gang of hawala operators were today arrested from the Kalyanpur area here, with the police suspecting that they have links with terrorist organisations.

"Jitendra Vayas, Prathviraj Solanki, Ajay Solanki, Pankaj Thakur, Kunwar Jadeja, Ishwar Solanki and Sahdev Solanki, all residents of Patan in Gujarat, were arrested from a house in Kalyanpur area here," said Kanpur SSP Yashasvi Yadav.

"A sum of Rs 38 lakh and 87 thousand was recovered from the accused," he said, adding that a car and seven mobile phones were also seized from them.

The SSP said that this is the biggest ever hawala operation unearthed in the city so far and they suspect that the accused might have been supplying money to some terrorist organisations.
