Press Trust of India Chennai
Election Commission has deployed 70 mobile teams of micro observers in bypoll-bound RK Nagar assembly constituency here amid complaints of alleged distribution of money to voters.

Each team comprising one Election Commission-appointed observer and a police personnel will go around their assigned areas on motorcycles, District Election Officer and Greater Chennai Corporation Commissioner D Karthikeyan said today.

Motorcycles will be very useful since they could easily travel in the congested lanes and bylanes of RK Nagar here, which goes to a byelection on April 12, he said.

In the event of any suspicious activity the teams will tip off the flying squads who will arrive with security personnel to inspect and take appropriate action, the DEO said.

Various political parties, including DMK, have been alleging distribution of money to voters by the ruling AIADMK (Amma), whose Deputy General Secretary T T V Dhinakaran is among the candidates in the fray.
