78 grams of heroin seized, 2 held

Mizoram Police seized 78 grams of heroin at Mizoram-Myanmar border Zokhawthar village in Champhai district last night.

The seized contraband was worth around Rs 2.7 lakh in the local market, a top police officer said, adding that two non-tribals from Assam were arrested in this connection.

The seized heroin was smuggled from Myanmar to be brought to Assam, police said.

The accused were booked under relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985.
