Police today rescued a man who was kidnapped six days ago and arrested eight persons in this connection in Mainpuri district, police said here today.
Viresh alias Veeru was abducted by some persons from Kurawali area in Mainpuri district on January 28 and the kidnappers demanded Rs 35 lakh as ransom for his safe release, a police spokesman said.
He said that during investigation it was found that the kidnappers have called the family members at the Kali river to pay the ransom amount.
He said that acting on the information, the Special Task Force laid the trap last night and arrested the kidnappers while taking the money.
Rs two lakh of ransom amount, five country made fire-arm and a vehicle were recovered from their possession.
Viresh was rescued safely.
