9 arrested for illegal demolition of houses, shops

Nine persons, including the kin of a Samjawadi Party MLC, were arrested today for allegedly demolishing shops and houses in Budh Vihar area here and trying to grab the land illegally, police said.

Mohit Yadav, nephew of an MLC belonging to Samajwadi party along with his accomplices reached Budh Vihar and demolished four shops and two houses, Superintendent of police (city) Salman Taj Patil said.

The angry residents threw stones at the alleged land grabbers following which they fled the scene, he said.

An FIR was registered against the accused-Mohit, Prithvi Singh, Jitendra, Gopal, Gajendra, Vikas, Rajeev, Sandeep and Vicky under relevant sections of IPC on the complaint of Meera, a resident of Budh Vihar.
 

All the accused have been arrested, police said, adding two JCB machines were seized from their possession.

Meanwhile, bypass chowki in-charge Ravindra Yadav was suspended by SSP Dharmendra Singh, for colluding with the land grabbers, Patil said.
