Account Officer held for bribery

A Panchayat Samiti account officer was arrested today by the ACB for allegedly demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 15,000 for extending an official favour.

According to the ACB, the accused officer Suresh Gurav (41), had demanded money from Gramsewak for transferring government funds for the Dalit Vasti Sudhar Yojana.

After the Gramsewak approached the ACB, a trap was laid and Gurav was arrested in his office at the Panchayat Samiti this evening, Thane ACB (Palghar) Inspector Deepak Barve said.

He has been booked under various sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act.
