Reacting to the decision to set up a judicial commission into the dalit student's suicide, the agitating students said action should have been taken first against Union Minister Bandaru Dattatreya and Hyderabad University Vice Chancellor Appa Rao before announcing a judicial probe.

D Prashant, one of the four suspended students still on a sit-in protest in the varsity, said Dattatreya and the VC had gone beyond their powers and interfered in the autonomy of the University and disrupted it.

Removing them before setting up the Commission would have led to a good precedent, he said adding they welcome the judicial probe but action should be taken against them.

He said the judicial commission has come after lot of delay and this should have been done much before which could have prevented the suicide by Rohit Vemula.
