Agro-economists to be felicitated in Mumbai

Prominent agri-economists will be felicitated by Pheonix Foundation on May 14 here for their contribution towards upliftment of farmers and rural economy.

The Foundation president Pasha Patel said in a statement that Maharashtra Agriculture Economic Council president Prakash Mahindre, Agriculture economics department chief at Mahatma Phule Agriculture University Dadabhau Yadav, Agriculture Economics department head of Karnataka University, Prakash, Agro One news editor Anand Gade and Rampal Jat from Rajasthan will be felicitated by BJP leader Gopinath Munde.

In last ten years, 1.5 lakh farmers have committed suicide and we have been demanding that farmers get a price equivalent to what they have spent on production of crop, Patel said.
 

The awards are being given to create awareness among people about the work being undertaken in this field, he added.
