Two woman mayors were among the four AIADMK candidates announced today by party supremo and Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa for the February 7 Rajya Sabha elections.
L Sasikala Pushpa was elected mayor of Tirunelveli Corporation and Vijila Sathyanand of Tuticorin in the 2011 local body polls. The other two candidates are S Muthukaruppan and N Chinnadurai.
Pushpa is also AIADMK Women's Wing Secretary while Sathyanand is the secretary of the party's local women's wing.

Jayalalithaa also announced her party's support to CPI-M, with the Left party renominating sitting MP TK Rangarajan for a successive term today.
The AIADMK candidates are likely to secure an easy win since the ruling party has a strong majority of 150 MLAs in the 234-member Tamil Nadu Assembly.
Besides the terms of Balaganga and Rangarajan, those of DMK's A A Jinnah and Vasanthi Stanley and G K Vasan and Jayanthi Natarajan (both Congress) also end on April 2.
DMK has announced Tiruchi N Siva as its candidate.
