Volunteers and leaders of different wings of AIADMK in Puducherry took out a silent procession as a mark of respect to the late party supremo Jayalalithaa today.

Secretary of the AIADMK's legislature party wing A Anbalagan and other legislators, leaders of the labour union, women's and students' wings and former legislators were among those who participated in the silent procession.

The participants sported black badges and also carried black flags marking their sorrow over the death of their leader.

All the participants later paid homage at the portrait of Jayalalithaa erected in the vicinity of statue of Dupleix on the beach road and stood in silence for a couple of minutes in memory of their leader.

The party had already pleaded with the Chief Minister of Puducherry V Narayanasamy to erect a life size bronze statue of Jayalalithaa and presented yesterday a petition to him in this regard.
