Air Asia flight missing: reports

An AirAsia flight with 162 people aboard reportedly gone missing this morning after takeoff from Indonesia on the way to Singapore.

The Flight QZ8501 lost contact with Jakarta air traffic control just after 06:15am local time, a transport official told local media.

The flight from Surabaya to Singapore was to land at 8.30 am local time.

An official said that the plane had asked for an unusual route before losing contact.
