Akhilesh attacks opposition over free laptop scheme

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav today attacked the opposition parties saying that those ridiculing his government's free laptop scheme were following his footsteps.

The chief minister said other states were following the schemes of Uttar Pradesh.

"In 2012 when SP government decided to distribute free laptops, our opponents criticised it and joked about the scheme," Yadav said after distributing free laptops to the students here.

He alleged that some opponents were of the view that scheme could take a formal shape, adding, those people later started advocting about wi-fi.

"They should have thought about distribution of free laptops before advocating for wi-fi," he said.
