Speaking at the 'Dalmia Pani Paryavaran' award ceremony in Jhunjhunu district, Alva laid emphasis on rain water harvesting and motivated people to take self initiative instead of being dependent on government only.
She said that women have to go to distant places from their houses to fetch water and this arrangement will have to be changed so as to ensure justice with them.
The governor said that, for this, water taps will have to arranged in the house in village and remote hamlets.
Alva also motivated government employees to contribute in environment protection and water conservation by promoting and participating in tree plantation and also their maintenance.
The Governor on the occasion felicitated 'Bhagirathi Foundation' of Jodhpur with the state level Dalmia prize worth Rs one lakh for its work in water conservation.
