Amry chief Bipin Rawat meets Bhutan King

Army Chief General Bipin Rawat, who is on a goodwill visit to Bhutan, today met Bhutanese King Jigme Khesar Namgyal Wangchuck.

Rawat assured the Bhutan King that the Indian Army would continue with its "special relationship" with the Royal Bhutanese Army in terms of training and support in capability building, a statement by the Indian Army said.

India and Bhutan share a strong military relationship.

"The King acknowledged the historical and cultural relationship between the two nations, especially the special relationship shared between the Indian Army and the Royal Bhutan Army," the statement added.

The Indian Army Chief is on a four-day trip to the Himalayan region from April 27 to April 30.
