Actor-filmmaker Andy Serkis will be awarded with International Broadcasting Convention's highest award, the International Honor for Excellence.
Serkis will be given the honour at the International Broadcasting Convention awards ceremony on September 15 in Amsterdam.
"The International Honor for Excellence has a long history of rewarding those who have transformed our creative vision. Andy Serkis has achieved this by bringing extraordinary humanity to computer-generated characters," IBC CEO Michael Crimp said in a statement to The Hollywood Reporter.
Serkis, who is known for his mastery in motion capture techniques courtesy films like "The Lord of the Rings" and "Planet of the Apes" trilogy, said he is honoured to be chosen for the award.
"I feel incredibly honoured to have been chosen as the recipient of this prestigious IBC Award. In turn, I must share my appreciation with the phenomenal legion of creative artists, visionaries and pioneers that I've been lucky enough to dance with on this journey of next-generation storytelling," Serkis said.
Past recipients of the International Honor for Excellence include James Cameron, Peter Jackson, Ang Lee and Jeffrey Katzenberg.
