Four persons belonging to
Tamil Nadu were killed in an accident on National Highway-16 near Tanguturu in Prakasam district of Andhra Pradesh in the wee hours today, police said.
The four were travelling in a car from Vijayawada when it rammed into a stationary lorry near the Toll Plaza at Tanguturu.
As it was cruising at a high speed, the car got crushed in the incident, leaving its inmates dead on the spot, a sub-divisional police officer said.
The driver of the car was ostensibly sleepy and lost control of the vehicle which caused the accident, he said.
The deceased were identified as Satyamurthy, Varadarajan, Subramanian and Satish from Karur district of Tamil Nadu.
Police had to use a crane to pull the mangled car from under the lorry and extricate the bodies.
