AP govt sets up panel to probe bus fire

Andhra Pradesh government today set up an inquiry committee to look into the factors leading to last week's bus mishap in Mahbubnagar district in which 45 people lost their lives.

The two-member panel, comprising IAS officers, has also been asked to suggest steps to prevent a recurrence of such incidents.

The committee, comprising Raymond Peter, Principal Secretary (Rural Development) and L Premachandra Reddy, Secretary (Finance), has to submit its report within 30 days, a Government Order (GO) said here.

As many as 45 people were killed when a private luxury bus headed to Hyderabad from Bangalore caught fire in the early hours of October 30 near Palem in Mahbubnagar district, some 140km from the Andhra Pradesh state capital.
