A 23-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly attempting to "misbehave" with an Italian woman inside the lift of a popular hotel here, police said today.
The incident occurred on Friday when the 31-year-old woman along with her child entered the elevator of the hotel to go to her room and the accused Harish got in and stood beside her, a police press release said.
When the lift was in motion, he allegedly tried to 'misbehave' with the woman under the pretext of playing with her child, it said.
Immediately, the woman got out of the lift and informed the hotel management following which a complaint was lodged with the Foreshore Estate police station, it added.
The victim was staying with her husband and child at the hotel in the city.
Preliminary investigation revealed that Harish hailing from Andhra Pradesh had come to the hotel to meet his relatives.
The accused was produced before a local court and later lodged in prison, the release said.
