AP to form disaster response force, authority

Andhra Pradesh minister for home and disaster management N Chinarajappa today announced formation of State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) and State Disaster Management Authority (SDMA).

Chinarajappa, who is also the deputy Chief Minister, also gave a presentation to the members of the World Bank's Disasters Risk Management (India) coastal mission team on SDMA and SDRF.

SDRF will have six companies, stationed in Vizag, Vizianagaram, Kakinada, Mangalagiri, Venkatagiri (Nellore) and Kurnool.

They would be under the overall administrative control of the state home department.
