The Allahabad High Court today restrained the Secretary of UP Higher Education Services Commission (UPHESC) from functioning in his official capacity after allegation that his Masters degree mark-sheet was forged and his appointment under quota meant for ST was illegal.
The order, passed by a Division bench comprising Justice Arun Tandon and Justice Ashwini Kumar Mishra, comes close on the heels of quashing of the appointments of the UPHESC's Chairman Lal Bihari Pandey on September 22 and three of its members vide an earlier judgement dated September 7.
Taking cognizance of a petition challenging the appointment of Sanjay Singh as UPHESC Secretary, the court asked the state government to file its response by the next date of hearing on October 8.
The petition has been filed by an organization "Bodhitwa Samaj Sewa Sansthan" which has alleged that Singh has submitted a forged mark-sheet of CSJM University, Kanpur for his Masters degree and that he was appointed under the ST quota even though the community he belongs to enjoys that status in Nagaland and not in UP.
