Armed man bursts into French retirement home for monks: source

Armed police were surrounding a retirement home for monks in southern France after a masked man burst in carrying a knife and a sawn-off shotgun, sources close to the investigation said.

"An individual, who was masked and armed with a knife and a sawn-off shotgun came into the retirement home where 70 monks live yesterday," one source said, adding that the man's motivations were unknown.
