Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis today inaugurated a public art festival here to spread awareness about elephants and the need for their conservation.
Several artists including megastar Amitabh Bachchan, designers such as LN Tallur, Sabyasachi Mukherjee and Masaba Gupta have painted the elephant sculptures, which are displayed at the festival, an official statement said.
Union Minister Maneka Gandhi, Lok Sabha member and ambassador of 'Elephant Parade' Poonam Mahajan and Ruth Ganesh, CEO of Elephant Family were present on the occasion, it said.

Known as Elephant Parade India, the initiate involves colourful sculptures of elephants displayed at open spaces to spread the message of saving forests, it said.
The elephant sculptures will be taken to some places here to sensitise people, the statement added.
