One person was injured when son of a Punjab Police Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI), along with his accomplices, allegedly opened fire today near a bank on Sirhind-Chandigarh Road, police said.
The injured, identified as 25-year-old Supinder Singh, who was posted at Telephone Exchange in Sirhind, was admitted at Civil Hospital, they said.
According to police, Singh informed that he along with his three-four friends was sitting in front of the shop of his property dealer friend Jagdeep Singh when ASI's son Sonu Pehlwan along with his 30 accomplices arrived there in 5-6 vehicles and allegedly opened fire.

They were also carrying sharp edged weapons when they attacked them, police said quoting Singh.
They also said that glasses of property dealer's shop were damaged and the bullet hit the vehicles parked near the shop due to firing.
Supinder said he had no enmity with Pehlwan or others and feigned ignorance about the reason of the assault.
Initially, it was thought that the incident was related to students' union election but injured Supinder said he had no link with any student organisation, police said.
Fatehgarh Sahib SHO Harinder Singh said police has recorded the statement of the injured and started the probe.
