Assam district forms team to check illegal plying of

The Hailakandi district administration in Assam has formed a five-member team to put a check on illegal plying of overloaded vehicles, an official release said.

Hailakandi Deputy Commissioner Adil Khan has directed the team to conduct random checks at different locations in the district, and initiate necessary action in case of violation of rules.

The team comprises Assistant Commissioner Parikshit Phukan, Deputy Superintendent of Police N M Barman, District Transport Officer Nripen Kalita, Superintendent of Taxes L C Singha and Assistant Conservator of Forest Akhil Dutta, the release said.

Kalita said, among other measures, hiking penalty and suspension of driving licence would have a huge impact on the overall road transport sector, the release said.
