Assam Governor Prof Jagdish Mukhi congratulated sprinter Hima Das on being conferred the Arjuna Award by President Ram Nath Kovind on Monday.
Hima, a young sprinter of the state, indeed deserves the very best who by her grit and determination has made the country proud, Mukhi said in a statement here.
"Congratulations to Hima Das and others on getting Arjuna. She is really a source of inspiration who deserves to be emulated," he said.
The 18-year-old from Assam was among 20 sportspersons were who received the Arjuna Awards in New Delhi.
Nicknamed the "Dhing Express", Hima has been a sensation this year as she won three medals -- a gold and two silvers in the 18th Asian Games, besides the gold she bagged at the IAAF World Under-20 Athletics Championships in Finland.
