Base metals fall on global cues

Base metal prices fell up to Rs 5 per kg on the local non-ferrous base metals market today on stockists selling in tandem with a weak global trend.

Traders said sentiment turned bearish after copper declined by the most in two weeks in global markets, after a gauge of China's services industry fell, stoking concern that demand will weaken in the biggest user.

Meanwhile, copper for delivery in three months retreated 0.5 per cent, the steepest loss since December 19, to 7,357 dollar a metric tonne on the London Metal Exchange.

In the national capital, copper mixed scrap and nickel (4x4) fell by Rs 5 each to Rs 425 and Rs 1,070-1,071, while zing ingot traded lower by Rs 2 to Rs 107-113 per kg, respectively.
 

Lead ingot, lead imported were also declined by Rs 2 each to Rs 134 and Rs 132 per kg, respectively.

The following are today's metal rates per kg:

Zinc ingot 107-113, nickel plate (4x4) 1,070-1,071 gun metal scrap 227, bell metal scrap 229, copper mixed scrap 425,chadri deshi 285.

Lead ingot 134,lead imported 132, aluminium ingots 150, Aluminium sheet cutting 151, aluminium wire scrap 153 and aluminium utensils scrap 150.
