A leader should have a mission and should constantly self-evaluate himself, Former IPS officer Kiran Bedi said today.

Bedi was speaking during a panel discussion organised to release 'Knowledge Bank', a collection of good practices on leadership compiled by Navjyoti India Foundation (NIF).

"Constant self-evaluation is important for good leadership. With self-evaluation, one cannot let monotony set in," Bedi, who is also founder general secretary of NIF, said.

"A leader should have a mission, he should know the purpose of his calling. What is he there for? He is the trustee of the people like (Mahatma) Gandhiji said. When you get a public position, you are a trustee," she said.
