With an aim to motivate them to perform better, the Uttarakhand Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat today said the police stations in the state will be ranked annually and the one which tops the ranking will get a reward of Rs one lakh.

Making the announcement while chairing a review meeting of the working of the home department here, he said the incentive was being given to help them perform better.

He also asked the police force to prepare itself to deal with new challenges like cyber crimes.

The chief minister asked the Director General of Police (DGP) to make arrangements for online registration of FIRs.

He also asked the police force to work in closer co- ordination with the Army, the Indo-Tibetan Border Police and the Shashtra Seema Bal in the border districts.

Asking officials concerned to launch a drive against vehicles operating despite being unfit to ply on the roads, Rawat said though the number of road accidents in the state had declined in comparison to last year, they need to be further controlled and the police department has to make serious efforts in that direction.
