Bhopal to host international seminar on conservation of lakes

An international seminar on conservation of lakes will be held in the state Capital on the occasion of "Jheel (lake) Mahotsav" beginning Friday.

"During the two-day event, experts in the field of lake conservation from countries like Japan, Switzerland, the Netherlands, besides India will take part", Madhya Pradesh Urban Administration, Housing and Environment Minister Kailash Vijaywargiya told reporters today.

Experts will deliberate on issues like scientific and environmental management of lakes and their conservation, at the seminar, to be held in six sessions.

The event is organised by the Environment Planning and Coordination Organisation (EPCO). Indian Institute of Forest Management (IIFM) is the knowledge partner for the seminar.
 

Among cultural events planned are performances by famous music band "Indian Ocean" and singer Mika.
