Binay Tamang meets Mamata Banerjee

Rebel GJM leader and chairman of the Board of Administrators of Gorkha Territorial Administration, Binay Tamang, today met West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee at the state secretariat here.

Tamang described the meeting with Banerjee as a "courtesy meeting."

"This was a courtesy meeting with the Chief Minister. This was my first meeting after the board was formed. We had a very brief meeting today but nothing very important was discussed. There was no official discussion," Tamang told PTI.

During the meeting the chief minister inquired about the ongoing situation in the Darjeeling Hills, Tamang added.

Tamang and another rebel GJM leader Anit Thapa was present at the meeting with the CM.
 

It was learnt that Tamang will also hold a "courtesy meeting" with West Bengal Governor Keshari Nath Tripathi on Sunday.

On Monday, Tamang along with Thapa will hold an "official meeting" with the chief minister at the secretariat on the situation in the hills.
