Biting cold wave sweeps Rajasthan, another beggar found dead

Another beggar was found dead outside a Masjid here taking the death toll due to cold to three even as the biting cold wave continued unabated on the third day today in Rajasthan.

About 50-60 year-old man living on pavement was found dead near Beg Madina Masjid in Shastrinagar area here yesterday, the police said.

However, a fresh western disturbance with clouds hit the northern parts of the state to give little relief to people of Rajasthan from icy winds, a MeT report said.

Churu remained the coldest place in the desert state where the mercury stood remained below freezing point at minus 2.7 degree C last night, whereas Pilani and Bikaner recorded a minimum of 1.8 and 1.9 degree C respectively last night.
 

Gananganagar recorded the minimum temperature of 2.7 degree C followed by Barmer 4.6 and Jaisalmer 5.4 degree C respectively.

There was a slight respite in Jaipur as the night temperature rose at 5.5 degree C, about 2.7 degree C more than yesterday.

Tourists were enjoying the sole hill station of Mount Abu as the mercury took an upward trend and settled at 8 deg C.

Winter showers might occur at a few places in north-south parts of the state in next 48 hours with the movement of western disturbance, a MeT forecast said.
