The BJP today stood by its government's decision in Goa to allow off shore casino vessels to operate from river Mandovi for another year citing "administrative and technical difficulties".

"BJP still feels and stands by its decision that off shore casino vessels should move out of river Mandovi. The state government has taken a decision to allow the off shore casino vessels to operate for another year in river Mandovi.

There must be some administrative and technical difficulties due to which the state government was prompted to do it," BJP Goa spokesman Damodar Naik told reporters here today.

He refused that the party and the government has taken a U-turn on its commitment to shift out off shore casino vessels from River Mandovi.

"Our stand is stable. We are against the off shore casinos operating in river Mandovi," Naik said.

BJP in its 2012 Goa Legislative Assembly election manifesto had promised that the casino vessels would move out of the River Mandovi, if they are voted to power.

Goa cabinet led by Laxmikant Parsekar this week had extended the deadline for the off shore casino vessels to shift from River Mandovi by another one year from March 31, 2016.
