Road traffic beween Chakulia and Bharagora was affected for hours today after BJP staged a road blockade at Manmudia village under Ghatsila sub-division in protest against the prevailing dilapidated road condition.
Led by BJP's former state unit president, Dineshanand Goswami, hundreds of party workers partcipated in the blockade demanding immediate action to improve condition of the road.
Goswami said former Chief Minister Arjun Munda had approved to improve as well as widen the road between Chakulia and Baharagora blocks but the construction work was stalled deliberately ever since the Hemant Soren-led coalition government come to power a year ago.

He said the poor villagers have been facing immense difficulty owing to the immotorable road condition and their repeated pleas were unheard by the authorities.
"We have left with no option but to put up road blockade to mount pressure on the concerned authorities," Goswami said, adding, the road was to develop by the Rural Engineering Organisation.
The blockade was withdrawn after around two hours folowing BDO Gyanmani Ekka assured to restore construction work with a fortnight, he said.
Admitting that the road construction work remained pending for past sometime, Ekka said the matter has already been apprised to senior officials of the district.
