Accusing Congress workers of creating ruckus at a meeting called by state BJP chief Ajay Bhatt, the party today demanded action against those responsible for disrupting the meeting to review development work in his constituency.

A BJP delegation led by state unit general secretary Naresh Bansal today met Uttarakhand DGP M A Ganpati and handed him a memorandum accusing Congress workers of creating ruckus at Pradesh BJP President Ajay Bhatt's review meeting in Ranikhet yesterday and not allowing it to take place.

Expressing apprehension that such activities by Congress workers had the "tacit support" of the state government, the delegation said they will worsen the law and order situation in the state and urged the DGP to initiate stern penal action against those responsible for it.

Congress workers allegedly created a bedlam at the meeting venue shouting slogans against Bhatt, showing him black flags and even burning his effigy making it difficult for the Leader of Opposition to carry on with the review of development works in his constituency.

Bhatt who heads the Pradesh BJP is also the Leader of Opposition in the state Assembly.
