BJP Member of Parliament Ravindra Kushwaha today hit out at Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi for his "silence" on the "anti-national protest" in JNU and sought Prime Minister Narendra Modi's intervention in the matter.

"The anti-national protest in the garb of freedom of expression during a programme at the JNU cannot be tolerated," Kushwaha said here.

"Prime Minister Narendra Modi should intervene in the matter and free the JNU from such elements," he said.

Attacking the Congress vice president, Kushwana said, "Rahul Gandhi has been active in issuing statements on the issue of intolerance but he is silent on the recent protest at the JNU..He has not even condemned the incident".

"The so called intellectuals who had returned their awards after the Dadri incident, have not spoken anything on the issue and so is the case with the Left parties," the BJP MP said.

"Tolerating anti-national activities can have a very dangerous outcome," Kushwana said.
