After West Bengal's protest against Election Commission's decision to transfer state officials, JD(U) today alleged that former union home secretary and BJP leader R K Singh is working to "influence" the poll body to effect transfers of officials.
"Being an ex-home secretary, he is misusing his contacts in the government and influencing the Election Commission officers there to transfer the officials of minority and backward community just before elections," JD(U), which is in power in Bihar, said in a representation to the commission.
Party's spokesperson K C Tyagi also attached a list of officials who have been transferred.

The list identifies the community of the officials and three of the seven officials were from so called upper castes while two each from backward and Muslim communities.
"Similar concerns have also been raised by other states like Bengal and Odisha apart from Bihar... I request you to issue necessary instructions to the EC officials...," it said.
