Karnataka Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha general secretary Tejasvi Surya has said the BJP should "unapologetically" be the party of Hindus and dubbed the Congress as the "party of Muslims."
In a series of tweets, Surya said the BJP must take concrete legislative measures to alleviate Hindu issues, "not just make speeches."
The tweets by Surya yesterday came after the Congress wrested the Jayanagar assembly seat in the city from the BJP in the election held recently.
Polling in the constituency was earlier countermanded after the death of B N Vijay Kumar, who was an MLA and the party candidate for the May 12 polls.
Surya said more than 90 per cent of votes polled in Muslim areas in Jayanagar went to the Congress while Hindu votes in Hindu areas were split between the BJP and Congress.
Speaking to PTI, Surya claimed that the Congress won the Jayanagar seat because of the consolidation of Muslim votes.
He alleged Hindus were facing a lot of constitutional discrimination, which the Centre must rectify.
In his tweet yesterday, he had said: "BJP should unapologetically be a party for Hindus. Must take concrete legislative measures toalleviate Hindu issues, not just make speeches. USHV is onlysolution to counter Muslim consolidation. Congress is theparty of Muslims: every Hindu must be convinced of thistruth.
