BJP workers shout pro-Modi slogans ahead of Rahul's visit

BJP supporters today raised slogans in Prime Minister Narendra Modi's support before Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi arrived at new textile market (NEM) here as part of his visit to the city.

A group of BJP workers shouted slogans in Modi's support as Gandhi was due to arrive to meet textiles traders to hear their grievances related to the Goods and Services Tax (GST).

Police briefly detained three persons and let them go after the meeting got over.

"Some persons tried to disturb the meeting by shouting slogans when Rahul Gandhi was visiting NEM. We detained three persons and let them go after the meeting got over," Surat police commissioner Satish Sharma said.
