A 65-year-old man, who allegedly practiced black magic, was today arrested on charges of cheating an 18-year-old woman whom he married as his third wife, police said.
The woman had gone missing from her home on March 6 and police traced her to a house at Bandlaguda here yesterday. She was taken to the Chandrayangutta police station, where her statement was recorded.
The woman said she is suffering from a thyroid problem and had approached one Hakim Syed Abbas Peer Quadri for treatment, a release from Hyderabad police said.
On the pretext of treating the ailment, Quadri, who is into black magic, gave her some unknown medicine and married her as his third wife, police said.
A case was filed against Quadri under IPC section 420 (cheating) and relevant sections of the Drugs and Magic Remedies Act, 1954 and he was arrested, the release added.
