Black pepper, select copra slip on lower demand

Prices of select copra and black pepper slipped at the spices market here today due to lower demand from stockists and retailers as well as lower export offtake.

Rest all other spices ruled steady in the absence of any major buying activity.

Black pepper moved down by Rs 10/5 per kg to Rs 675/735 from Tuesday's closing level of Rs 685/740.

Copra office Alapuzha and copra office Kozhikode fell by Rs 100 per quintal each to Rs 6,000 and Rs 5,900 as against to Rs 6,100 and Rs 6,000 yesterday, respectively.

Following are today's closing rates (in Rs with previous rates in brackets):
 

Black pepper (per kg) 675/735 (685/740), ginger bleached (per kg) 165 (165), ginger unbleached (per kg) 185 (185), copra office Alapuzha (per quintal) 6,000 (6,100), copra office Kozhikode (per quintal) 5,900 (6,000), copra Rajapur Mumbai (per quintal) 13,000 (13,000), copra edible Mumbai (per quintal) 7,700 (7,700).
