Truck and bus drivers blocked NH 34 in NNorth Dinajpur district today for five hours in protest against the assault of a driver by puja organisers.
Police said some youths, collecting puja subscription from passing vehicles, allegedly hit the driver of a truck during argument over the amount.
As the driver had to be taken to Raiganj Hospital with head injuries, the youths fled and the drivers present at the spot blocked the road at around 12 pm.
The blockade was lifted by 5 pm after police promised action.
