Boy drowns in canal

accidentally slipped and drowned in a canal while his friend, who jumped in to save him was barely saved by the locals, police said here today.

Neeraj, a resident of Vishwa Bank Colony Barra had gone with his friends to a park yesterday where he accidentally fell in Gujjain Mardanpur canal near the park, police said.

His friend Ayush jumped into the canal to rescue him but as none of the boys could swim they started drowning immediately, police said.

However, the locals managed to pull Ayush out of the waters but Neeraj's body could not be recovered, they said.

 

Probes are on into the matter, they said.
