Boy killed in road mishap in south-west Delhi

A 13-year-old boy was killed after he being hit by a speeding vehicle in south-west Delhi's Palam area today.

The victim, identified as Rajiv, was going back to his home after playing with his friends when he was hit by the speeding RTV at around 3 PM, police said.

People in the area caught hold of its driver after the incident and beat him up before handing him over to police.

Rajiv, who sustained a head injury in the mishap, was rushed to a hospital but could not be saved, a police officer said.

A case of rash driving and culpable homicide not amounting to murder was registered against the driver, identified as Mangal. He has been arrested, the officer said.
