BPCL, IOL for Tegh Bahadur Hockey

Top outfits, Bharat Petroleum and Indian Oil, are among eight teams set to take part in the 13th PMC Bank-Guru Tegh Bahadur Gold Cup All India Hockey Tournament here from September 11-19.

Last year's champions Western Railway and runners-up Punjab National Bank will not be participating as their teams are depleted with injuries to several of their key players, tournament organisers Mumbai Hockey Association Limited announced today.

The eight teams have been divided into two groups of four each and the top two teams from each group will qualify for the semi-finals to be played on September 18.

The final is scheduled to be played on Tuesday, September 19. The participating outstation teams are Indian Oil, BPCL, South Central Railway, Punjab Police and Army XI, while the local challengers include Indian Navy, Central Railway and MHAL President's XI.
 

Hockey India has deputed 12 officials, including four from Mumbai, to officiate and ensure the smooth conduct of this tournament.

The Groupings - Group-A: BPCL, South Central Railway, Punjab Police and Indian Navy.

Group-B: Indian Oil, Army XI, Central Railway and MHAL President's XI.

The tournament is being sponsored by Punjab & Maharashtra Cooperative (PCM) Bank and organised under the auspices of Hockey India.
