Brown sugar, pistol recovered, taxi driver arrested

Security forces today recovered 1.2 kgs of brown sugar and a pistol from a taxi in Tangdhar area near the Line of Control in Kupwara district of Jammu and Kashmir.

Taxi driver Mohammad Ilyas had been arrested, a defence spokesman said.

Acting on a tip-off, army and police in a joint operation intercepted the taxi at Tangdhar, 185-km from here.

During search of the vehicle, 1.2 kgs of brown sugar and a pistol were recovered, the spokesman said.
