The BSF South Bengal Frontier has so far seized 11.125 kilograms of gold valued at about Rs 3.19 crore since January this year.
Four gold smugglers were apprehended by the border force during this time, according to a release issued by the BSF South Bengal Frontier.
Of the four apprehended, a gold smuggler was held today after four gold biscuits weighing about 429.550 grams and valued at about Rs 12.49 lakh were seized from his possession at Hakimpur border outpost.
Keeping in view the vulnerability of the area, vigil along Indo-Bangla border has already been strengthened to check gold smuggling effectively, the release said.
